Every Monday, students will be given a book to read. The books are leveled and should always be a "good fit" book for your child. Your child needs to read the book Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, preferably out loud to a parent or other adult. However, if needed, students can read aloud to a brother or sister, or even a cuddly pet. On Thursday, your child will take a quiz over their assigned reading.
On weeks that we do not attend school on Monday, we will have the same homework, but with the books coming home on Tuesday and the quiz taken on Friday.
During weeks in which we miss more than one day of school (such as Thanksgiving and fall break) or weeks in which we take state-mandated standardized tests, there will be no homework.
